"Mini bieb"
in Hoofddorp (gudumholm)
It all started as an idea of my children Iris (8) and Cas (5). It has been worked on for months by myself and the grandfather of Iris and Cas. It has become a modern mini library. with opening hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. through an automatic time lock, stop by soon to borrow a book for free or to exchange a book.
The library is made from recycled wood. This wood comes from window frames that have been replaced in the neighbourhood for plastic window frames. The mini library has a time slot and is open at the times below. Use the button on the handle to open the electric lock.
You can find a selection of childerens, adult books and magazines. We also have some english titles.
The Mini Library is maintained by Iris
The Construction
Nearly all the material of the wooden box was gerycled
Almost everything about the mini library is made from recycled material
All the wood was cut into 40x40mm beams.
The correct profile was cut using the table saw and band saw.
The connections are kept simple, half lap
Everything is put together with glue
The doors are attached to the cupboard with brass hinges
This is the final result, an electrically operated lock is installed. Electric to ensure that the cabinet is automatically locked at night.
The Electric lock. It constist of a 3D printed housing that in turn houses a 3D printed solenoid. The time that the solenoid can be activated is limited by an Arduino uno. (2 Seconds)
